“Even if” sound slightlys apologetic. Is it better to be a professional musician? Of my three sons one is a professional orchestral violinist, one is part-time professional running a Scottish wedding-dance band and the eldest is not a professional, but he plays mostly for charity gigs and takes the occasional fee. His profession is in Software development - but he is happier making music. They all love their music making but I am not at all sure who of the three is happiest doing it.
Sometimes we encounter language in discussions (electronic, in person) where we hear thugs like, “He could have won prizes if he were professional,” or similar
I am not sure what is implied by that, if anything. But I want us amateurs to feel truly proud of our love of the art. Not all of us can be professional players.

But we all feel the passion of this music.
