Our Member, and an enthusiast for old settings and styles, was featured this week on BBC Pipeline. On the broadcast Dr. Peter McCalister showcased a recording of Joseph MacDonald’s “March for a Beginner” (PS 001 - the earliest pibroch we have on stave notation, from 1760).

A recording from his Gold Medal-winning performance at last year’s Northern Meeting was also featured, where he played the Gesto version of “War or Peace” (PS 204).

Dr. McCalister is also an exceptional light music performer, and you get to hear many ceol beag tunes on the show.
