There is so much more music outside the competition world. She is lucky enough to have an opportunity to earn a living as a performer outside the competition world. We do not. This is a sad shortcoming of our tradition.
We should be expanding our musical tradition beyond its limited boundaries of games and competitions. We should be creating opportunities for performances that allow us, as musicians, to concern ourselves with audiences and finding ways to reach more people.
