Little is known of the compiler but a number of books and tunes with his name are in the writer’s collection. It appears he had correspondence with many people world wide and passed on much material.
This small collection of tunes was privately published. The music is mainly hand written but three of the tunes have been photocopied from existing books. The pages are not numbered and the music is on the right hand side of the page only.
On the flyleaf is a comment:
26th July 1980
Manage (sic) to get this book of (sic) the ground. It could of (sic) been
presented better, I got mixed up in measurement and size cutting.
Have received a tape of the Corby Games, a good standard down south,
playing a lot of nice tunes, and drumming really good. Yours In Piping
Willie, is undoubtedly the late Willie Strachan. A number of books from his estate were acquired by a Scottish book seller and then sold to the writer. The date, 26/7/80, is hand written beside the compiler’s signature on the page with the Forward and is probably the date when this book was produced.
